Poppies in Oil

Floral Walk

Watercolour and Pastel

The background of the painting is watercolour
Then Pastels are applied on top to bring out
The brilliance of the floral colours
Not with any detail, more of a impressionist

Watercolour Poppies

In this Painting,i have used the "wet in wet" Technique

You need to get your flower sketch down first, as you see
in this one, i have used quite dark colour's as
it makes the poppies stand out more........
then wet the paper around your drawing
make sure you have in your mind what colour's
you are going to use and get them ready in your pallet
as soon as you have wet the paper you need to drop
the paint in and leave to settle where it wants.

You will see the paint intermingle and the effects
you can get with a bit of practice are stunning!

When this part is completely dry, you can start on painting
in your drawing

Roses in Watercolour
This one is done much the same as the poppies
But a more delicate background

Thistles in Watercolour

To get the highlights on the thistles
i used white gouache by Daler Rowney
It is not transparent like watercolour
so sits on the top(body colour), good for covering up mistakes!
